What is an Endurance Sports Mentor?

We all know the concept of mentorship in our lives and have been influenced and supported by key mentors who have helped us along our journey.

Like many, I have key mentors in the endurance sports world. Those who helped me lay the foundation to get started and complete that first big race and early goals. My early mentors have evolved into friends and I’m so grateful they were willing to pass their knowledge to me. I am extremely lucky.

Increasingly however, the internet has become many athletes’ sole source of information. Sifting through endless advice that may be inaccurate, a sales pitch, or too risky becomes a pastime for many athletes. It’s impossible to truly know how to develop and manage your journey without significant experience in endurance sports. The good news is that we do have a solution.

Endurance coaching is the answer for sound advice and guidance to bring your performance to the next level. I myself have a coach and would recommend her to anyone who was interested. Unfortunately however, many coaching models are subscription based and many athletes are simply priced out of participation. Additionally, committing to a traditional coaching model is intimidating! Feelings of inadequacy and an attitude of not being worthy of coaching can become a real barrier. If this sounds familiar an Endurance Sports Mentor may be the right fit for you.

Think of an Endurance Sports Mentor as an `a la cart coach. A mentor will help anyone who is interested in tackling an endurance sport (swim, bike, run) and guide your progress on an as-needed basis. Coaching on your terms. Just as I had mentors early in my career you too should have someone you can go to specifically when you need advice on how to proceed through your endurance sports journey. A mentor can help.
